The Adventures of Madalena and Francesca

familyOct 1, 2007; Madalena: Hi everybody! We just finished
touring the country of Denmark. It was really fun! Francesca and I celebrated our ninth and twelfth birthdays there. We visited allot of Tivolis (European theme parks ), went to great beaches and played soccer with our friends. We both practiced River Dancing with the dance troupe from Ireland and I studied very hard learning to read, write, and speak Chinese! My teacher was the translator from China. Her English name was Bessie. She said that Chinese is one of the hardest languages in the world to learn; even for the Chinese people (zhong guo ren). She taught me so much about her country and I still study everyday on my own. Francesca: Hi guys! I mostly played outside in Denmark. It rains allot there so I had to wear mud boots. I also took drum lessons twice a week from Andrew, the drummer from London. Now we are in Paris and I have a French drum teacher named Eric. Andrew and Eric have different ways of drumming, like Andrew says it's all about technique and Eric thinks it's all about the way you hear the music. I just like to play the drums. My favorite groove is" Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay". We live in an apartment close to the Sacre Coeur ( a big church on top of a mountain called Montmartre). We go there on weekends to listen to live street music on the steps outside. Everyone sings along to songs like "Imagine" by John Lennon. Madalena: We have been back in Paris for two weeks. So far we have climbed the Eiffel Tower at night, went to the top of the Arc of Triomphe, visited the Champs Elysees and the Notre Dam, and rowed a boat on Lac Inferior. Francesca: Here in Paris we watched a live tennis match in the park called The Champion's Tour. Some of the players we saw were named John McEnroe, Sergi Bruguera, Pat Cash, and Cedric Pioline. They were very good. We got to see them play from close up. My dad got autographs from all of them. It was cool! Madalena: Paris is a great city. We will keep you updated as we begin school here in October. Ciao for now!
